2018-2019 School Year | Life Update
Almost two weeks ago, I graduated with my bachelors degree in Elementary Education. Because I am closing this chapter of my life and opening many new ones in the next few months, I've selfishly decided that this week, I'd like to recap this school year. This was a big one, with a lot of memorable moments. This may be wordier than most of my blogs, so bonus points if you read through all of this and don't just scroll through the photos!
This year has been a whirl wind! Between being in an internship two days a week and class three days a week, the fall semester was definitely my most difficult semester. In September, we celebrated my old roommate's birthday with laser tag, cheesecake, and a concert. Kaylie and I went to the Niall Horan concert in Tampa and it was an amazing night.
In October, I traveled by myself to Georgia to visit my brother, sister-in-law, and niece. We explored Savannah and St. Simon's Island. I spent a the whole last week of October celebrating Halloween with some of my best costume ideas to date (I think, anyways).
In November, I decided to push my comfort levels just before my birthday. The weekend before my birthday, I got up at six o'clock to drive to Universal Studios Orlando by myself. Because I have an annual pass, I was able to get into the park an hour early and got some photos around the park. I ate breakfast in one of the restaurants in Harry Potter World and took my time doing whatever I wanted. It was a great way to close out 20 and ring in 21.
When December rolled around, I barely had time to blink in preparation for finals. Thankfully, I manage to have time to capture some photos of my niece for my brother's Christmas cards. I also had to start making some plans for a wedding because I got engaged in December! My brother and sister-in-law also announced that they were expecting their second baby in 2019. All this made for an exciting Christmas!
At the first of the year, all of my mom's side of the family was able to get together for one night. We wanted to take advantage of that, since it never happens anymore unless someone is getting married (which means we should have another picture at the end of the year with our newest family member!)
At the end of January, I held my first ever give away for a Valentine's Day shoot. I met a great couple, Melissa and Jacob, who had recently been engaged, and was able to do a really fun Gatsby-themed engagement session for them in February!
March was also a busy month with travel. Alexander and I took my niece to Universal Studios and then I drove to Tallahassee to see a friend from school. While I was there, I was able to take photos for her and her mom and spent a lot of time exploring everything in Tallahassee.
By April, I started to wrap up my final semester of college. This is when we attended our spring banquet. I also got to take pictures of my best friend and future brother-in-law getting engaged, but those photos will be saved for another blog coming soon!
On May 5, 2019, I walked across the stage and earned my bachelors degree in Elementary Education. Not only that, but I got my degree in three years, which was my goal at the end of high school.
I'm so excited for the rest of 2019. I hope to have a teaching job in the fall and am planning to move out on my own and get married this fall as well. I'm also wanting to grow this photography business a lot more in the next year, and to do that, I have a lot of exciting things planned! But I also know I cannot do that without YOU.
